Some of the main place of Interest: Medieval town of Perugia Umbria’s wonderfully historic capital. The old town which was built with a perspective of the future. The main town centre is easily accessible thanks to the hidden mobile stairs which take you up 500 metres from street level, observing parts of the underground of the Etruscan and Roman foundations. The best in Perugia is a visit to Santa Maria degli Angeli, birthplace of Saint Francis,(1182) Basilica of St. Francis and Church of Santa Chiara. Trasimeno Lake. The coexistence of the green,gently sloping hills of the tuscan-umbrian countryside,with evocative panorama of the lake and historical villages full of art and culture,have given this territory a particular charm. Lake Trasimeno is a regional natural reserve,is the fourth largest in Italy and from is waters rise 3 island: Maggiore,Minore and Polvese. Since 2006 lake Trasimeno joined “LIVING LAKES” which is a worldwide network of 52 lakes and in 2008 was awarded by the UN for its efforts in protection of the nature and for the projects realised for the sustainable development. It is an ideal place for wonderfull hiking with 16 sign-posted walks,riding and mountain-biking.
